  • How We Stamp Concrete

Stamped concrete is the type of project that some ambitious homeowners feel they can take on themselves. However, it’s usually a better idea to leave this to experienced professionals. Designing and installing a successful stamped concrete project requires both an eye for artistry and technical ability to pour quality concrete. Our team can provide valuable inspiration if you don’t know how to best complement your home’s architecture or landscape.

When stamping concrete, time is of the essence. The entire process needs to be completed before the fresh concrete sets. This is another reason why you want an experienced and well-prepared contractor in charge of your project.

First, we will apply two layers of color hardener and a powdered or liquid release agent to prep the concrete for the stamping. We will test the concrete to make sure it has reached the right stage of plasticity and is ready to be stamped. We will pre-texture along the perimeter of the concrete slab, and then place the first row of stamps. We work row by row from the starting point to the end point.

Our team may use a tool like a hand chisel or roller to perform detailing work. We will also touch up minor surface imperfections for a flawless finish. We will remove the residual release agent and apply the curing compound to retain moisture in the concrete, and then install joints. Finally, we will apply sealer to the concrete.

When designed and installed by an expert team, your stamped concrete project will be striking for years to come.
